Letter from
FCA President - Dave Fallon
Okay, you went to a dinner or signed
up at a fishing tournament or at a show and now you're an FCA member. Now
what?
To be truthful, we ask that question all the time. Should members do
stuff, like volunteer, just give money or just be counted as a member so
we can tell Politicians how big we are, therefore, insisting they vote
our way.
The short answer is we need all those types of members. Let me explain.
The FCA currently has over one thousand members, making us the largest
fishing conservation group in New York
(and one of the largest in New
Jersey).

Feds favor keeping state-by-state approach that benefits Jersey anglers
Saturday, March 22, 2008

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Size matters -- at least when it comes to fluke
fishing on Staten Island.
Indications are that New York's
anglers will have to abide by a length restriction of 19.5 inches -- anything
shorter must be thrown back.
Meanwhile, in New Jersey,
fluke that are 2 inches smaller will continue to be fair game.
"That's just not right," fumed Tom Coleman of Midland Beach.
"What's the logic behind that? I think there should be one coastal rule
that applies to each state."

FCA welcomes Regulator Marine to the Manhattan Cup
Fri, Mar 21, 2008
The Fishermen's Conservation Association (FCA) has
announced that Regulator Marine has been named the exclusive title sponsor of
the 10th Annual Manhattan Cup "catch and release" charity fishing
tournament in New York City.
Carol Ricketts, Regulator Marine's director of sales and marketing, said that
Regulator was thrilled to pair up with the FCA at their flagship charity
fishing event. "We are very excited to be presenting the 10th Annual
Manhattan Cup," Carol said. "It is an outstanding opportunity to
illustrate two things we are passionately dedicated to: making the finest
fishing boats in the industry, and being actively engaged in conservation of
the resources that sustain our industry."

Staten Island anglers will be able to reel in fluke this summer after all. After the National Marine Fisheries Service last fall threatened to
impose a moratorium on summer flounder harvest through 2009 or longer
to help spawn the fluke population, the federal agency has backed down
and announced that a ban is unlikely, Rep. Vito Fossella said today.
